Frequently Asked Questions of Fashion Consulting Clients:
Q. Maybe it's my body type, but I'm practically bulging at my tummy through all those cute tunic tops and long sweaters that I've purchased over the last few months. The problem is that my jeans start to pucker around the fly in front, and - even when I wear a body shaper underneath - it looks like I have more tummy than I actually do.
A. Women with the flattest tummies can complain of this problem too. Try wearing the body shaper (just for the tummy area) on the outside of the jeans. In other words, put your jeans on first, then slide the body shaper over your tummy area. Just know that this only works under longer tops that completely cover the midriff!
Q. Okay, I've tried on every kind of pants this season and NONE of them fit correctly. Usually, they are way too low (still!) and much too loose around the waist. I know I couldn't be the only one with this problem. Where should I go?
A. I know that you have tried all the regular places. That might be part of the problem. Try a few retailers with whom you are less familiar. Eddie Bauer does a great job with fit and labels its trousers pretty clearly.
Chico's has a completely different concept for size, but they satisfy women of all of body types.
And G p has redeveloped much of the sizing and styles for women, so if you didn't have much luck last year, try again soon.
